This video just goes to show that history shouldn't be organized into centuries anymore, but instead decades. Its difficult to picture what these computers looked like and functioned like at the beginning of the period the video discusses. Computer the size of a house probably have less computing power than our cellphones.
Like some have mentioned before, I find it ironic that a medium we now think of as a means to unregulated lolcats, memes and social networking began out of the need for a computer network during the cold war. I also find it interesting, although not surprising, that a network we now understand to be universal developed as a series of different protocols and networks from different countries.
