Shephard Practicum Post 2

As I have spent some time getting to know the site and the members of UnitedYogis, I found myself wondering about the sense of community that was inherently provided by the site. Even the way the links are phrased "talk yoga" or "yogis" makes it feel like it is easy to communicate amongst other members. In the article "Why We Argue about Virtual Community: A Case study of the Phish.net Fan Community" Watson discusses and presents several definitions of "community." This led me to question and take into account the sense of community on UnitedYogis and how it may or may not differ from other websites.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

What aspects of an online blog or forum help foster a sense of community? Does having different levels of bloggers effect the way members interact or want to interact on public sites and forums?

Does the type of site one is visiting/a member of have anything to do with how people interact?
