Discussion Post #6

I watched a featured Saturday Night Live clip on Hulu, and an interview with a musician on YouTube. Between the two videos themselves there were noticeable differences in similarities, in terms of video quality and options, and user interaction and efficiency. The video quality and options between both were nearly identical, and both had preview boxes when you scroll the cursor over the time bar. Hulu's video size is larger than the YouTube default video size, but YouTube has an option to make the video larger.

The YouTube video I watched did not have a commercial before it, and there were related videos directly next to the main video, as well as user comments below. Hulu did have a commercial below it, and the related videos were organized into several different sections. Hulu also did not have user comments, and the videos themselves were not user uploaded, whereas YouTube's videos are.

The main relevant difference between Hulu and YouTube is that the full TV show episodes and many of the clips and movies cannot be found on YouTube. However, the variety of videos on YouTube is exponentially greater than Hulu's, and some episodes of lesser known tv shows, as well as some movies, can be found on YouTube.
